A Matter of Blood, 2010, Sarah Pinborough
Needed to take a break from the Charlie Parker series, since I was reading them faster than I could write about them, so I decided to check out the other detective procedural mystery series with supernatural overtones. It’s very readable, even if it does leave far too many issues unresolved in order to justify it’s existence as part one of a trilogy.
But, there is something here, that needs to be commented on negatively, and that’s the cover. Not only do I count three different distressed fonts in use, but the way they’ve been laid out, it looks at first glance as if the title is A Matter of Blood: The Man of Flies is Among Us: The Dog-Faced Gods: Book One. Designers, please…don’t do that.
