Watership Down, 1975 ed., Richard Adams
A fun, pointless argument is whether or not WD is a fantasy because it has talking rabbits or a fable because the rabbits are an allegory for humanity so freaking broad you can pretty much map any political/ethnic themes you want onto them.

One of the things I like about you is that you and I had some of the same books growing up. I still have my copy too, and I still pull it out and read it on occasion.

Great book. Very long but actually easy to read. Saw the movie before I read the book. Movie made me weep. Book made me think. Thankful to be alive in an age and a place where such things can exist.
