I wonder what the bug is?  Did the search you did return too many results, and rather than just telling you to narrow your search instead just return almost nothing? That&#039;s kind of useless...</description>

I&#039;m not sure how you searched Usenet to only get 2-3 references up to 1991, but I just searched from 1981 to 1988 and got 30,600 hits for [&quot;Star Trek&quot; and &quot;canon&quot;], which matches my recollection of it being a common term at the time, and I was only a casual fan of the show (but knew some hardcore fans).</description>
