Delta and the Bannermen is actually really good guys, as is, oh, about half of Paradise Towers. Granted, Mel doesn’t have much to do in either of those stories.
I’d still rank Mel over Rose. Peri and Adric, now, they make me appreciate Rose.
Truth be told, I apperciate these forays into Post Baker Who. When I was younger, I was only vaguely aware of the previous four Doctors, and did not fully understand the “regeneration conceit”. I absolutely loved the Baker version of the character, and stopped right away when he regenerated into the sixth Doctor. I was a fickle kid. I did not watch anything Who Related (other than random re-runs of the Baker era) until the American TV movie. Then I tried the Eccleston Who and was sucked back in. But it is interesting to see what I missed (the good and the not so great). I am thinking about starting to work my way through the post Baker years via Netflix.
The thing I always liked best about Terror of the Vervoids was how the prop department made no attempt whatsoever to hide the fact that the security guards’ guns were just label makers held upside-down.
Not being English, I will never quite understand the anti-appeal of Bonnie Langford, although the constant Peter Pan poses do bring about a certain Sandy Duncan horror.
That said, she did a really good job with what is one of the most poorly written characters in Who history.
As a side note, I am amused that she passed the torch to the teen Ace… when Sophie Aldred was actually older than she is.
Just because this sort of thing might not be completely wasted on you. The porn-chic pictures of Colin Baker. It’s just beyond funny to see a shirtless Colin Baker with a handle-bar mustache.

Man, not a day goes by when I’m not suspicious of foliage.
And to think, Vervoids is HER VERY BEST STORY!
No really, she’s pretty endearing in that one.
Melanie Bush…the companion that actually made me appreciate Rose.

Mel was an okay concept for a companion, but nobody ever had time to actually develop her as a character.

I always joked that it was a shame Paradise Towers didn’t introduce Pex’s twin brother Cox near the end.

Contains a bigger picture of the porn-stache Colin Baker, along with lots of odd bits that I probably shouldn’t pay much more attention to.
Yeah, let’s try not to link to sites like that here, okay folks?–Dorian
