Deceit, 1993, Peter Darvill-Evans
I have to give Darvill-Evans some credit. Deceit may not be a particularly good example of the New Adventures era for Doctor Who, but it’s nice to see the editor of a line stepping in and abiding by the writing guide-lines and plot notes along with everyone else.
Anyway, Deceit is the book that reintroduces Ace as battle-hardened, badass warrior girl, because apparently she wasn’t interesting or angsty enough before. This is also the book that brings Absolom Daak, Dalek Killer into something approaching continuity.
(That’s also as close as the New Adventures era ever got to actually having the Daleks appear in the line.)

Yeah, not very good, but I it was interesting to read about those guidelines in the back of the book.

  2. Don’t forget about GodEngine, of course.

Those are asteroids? I thought they popped into a Clive Barker Hellraiser story or something…
