Timewyrm: Revelation, 1991, Paul Cornell
Cornell has the distinction of being the first “New Adventures” author to go on and write for the new series of Who. Remarkably, the scene depicted on this cover, is a faithful representation of events in the book.

I still think this book is one of the most important stories in the history of Doctor Who. It set a standard that kept the idea alive for more than a decade while the BBC sorted their shit out.
I love that scene in the cover, but the bit I really remember is a crucifixion scene. I haven’t read the book in a long, long time, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth a re-evaluation to see if it holds up well, or whether I should be content to let feelings of blissful nostalgia lie still. It’s an eternal dilemma.
Please keep doing these covers, Dorian.
Bob–The plan is, for the “gap year” for Who, to primarily do “New Adventures” or other Who-related covers from my collection. With occasional breaks for special occasions. For example, next week is the one year anniversary of “Paperback Book Club” which justifies a special post, and I’ve already got the July 4th post picked out.
Glad you’re enjoying the series.
